  1. Got the dog bark translator "Bow lingual" for Xmas. I gotta say that it was really interesting. Blitzen was barking at Simone because she was laying in the middle of living room. The translation was fearful with the words "Don't hurt me". We always thought that the bark was saying "move out of my way, now". When we mentioned Car ride, the translation was what you would expect, "lets go, go, go". Waiting and barking for his treat got a frustrating "enough is enough". Very entertaining when you have phrases that you think they are saying and then see what the translator says they are saying.
  2. They bark on and off all day long. Any delivery to my house or any house around me gets them barking. There are different kind of barks. I can be in another part of the house and I can tell by the bark who is doing what to whom. Blitzen has this short clipped bark when Simone is blocking him from getting on his bed. I yell her name and I can hear her tags jingle as she gets up and allows him to pass.
  3. "Tish the dish" what a great name!
  4. This is so heartbreaking. I know. I just put one cat down for KD. He was only 5. Am now preparing for the inevitable with my 13 year old. Classic signs and I will not put this one thru rehydration like I did with my other baby. Everyday is a gift. Goodbye never is and never will be easy. My sincere sympathy.
  5. Thanks rockingship. I recently saw a clip from the movie Good Will Hunting and want to see more. When my attitude changed to pro grey, this clip left me seeing the world of racing in a totally different way.
  6. So glad you explained what "tail" meant. I was really trying to think of an intelligent way to ask you. If you had to pick a track for someone to visit as a first ever racing experience, which one would it be? If I was to order a video from a particular race is there one that you would suggest? Thanks
  7. Rockingship, Hope Trouper Zeke's semen was frozen because I think 1241 pups is a bit much for one guy. He is Simone's sire and obviously a lot of other greys too. I cannot believe I am even writing this, but his semen must really freeze well. If it was done the old-fashion way, he must be one happy dog. When you speak of compression, do you mean the line has died out or the traits are no longer strong in that line so it is no longer sought after? Talking about totals, I just thought that my check will have Bears of Southampton. I did put a note on it about being from GT.
  8. Rockingship According to Greyhound Data, TUMBLE BUG is "enshrined" in the hall of fame. It caught my eye and was wondering does that mean a statue or some other special listing?
  9. Just licked the envelope shut and popping it in the mail. I ask about Blitzen racing name ARDON ZINGER. This will be an easy one for ya. His sire was KID OCTANE and dam was ROUNDABOUT NASA. Both of these show the same lines. I recognize a lot of the names that you have mentioned. Rooster Cogburn appears more than once. They seem to be drawing from the same pool or going back and forth within the lines. Don't know the correct terms. Owner on NGA says the owner was Alan Rink. I know that you can read the data and almost know what the breeders hoped to get in the litter. He was whelped 12/25/94 and registered 6/17/96 and released 10/96. His racing was brief if at all. I wonder if he was released because of slamming his mouth on whoever was next to him in the race. He does this to Simone when they are going outside. I think this is a big no on the track. I know that he was bred to be a good racer but I wish I could tell them what a good job the breeding has done producing such a bright and issue-free dog. Had a brief time with space aggression which caused him to bounce. He was so easy.
  10. God bless you for doing this. I have spend hours trying to find where they came from. I have a lot of info including their registration and owners. So many people on GT seem to know the breeders and where they raced. I find that amazing. This is so progrey. It gives meaning to everything that you have talked with regard to the integrity of the breed and how racing greys is something that must be continued.
  11. I love reading this stuff. I spend hours on Greyhound data. I do have a question for you. Are there greyhound consultants that tell the breeders who should breed with who. I don't know how to term this but "Who is in charge" or is it pretty random. Is the breeder limited by what stud fee he can afford. Can the owner of the stud refuse to breed with certain bitches? I have noticed that there are finer featured greys and big boxy greys like I have. Are there breeders who pick lines to produce these petite greys and some who like the bigger boned lines. I know that racing pleases the grey but have you ever noticed that some greys seem more focused and really know that they have a job and that is to win. Therefore, would intelligence ever enter into the breeding process.
