  1. The question you should ask is: "Would you like to have your teeth rotting to the point of falling out?" My hound has bad teeth and I will continue to have the vet take care of his dental needs. Left unchecked, rotting teeth can lead to worse, life-threatening, health problems. Plus it is painful for the hounds. And their breath stinks. Help your hounds as much as you can with routine brushing and professional dental care as required. GoinGrey (Edited for grammar)
  2. Kenny has had a redness in his right nostril since before Christmas. (No he wasn't going to "guide my sleigh tonight") Knowing him as I do, I thought he may have run nose first into a pointed stick, or got kicked in the face by a rabbit. The redness has since expanded to both nose holes. Worried about discoid lupus and other great unknowns, we saw the vet yesterday. Kenny has lost many precious teef in the past and will undoubtedly loose them all in the course of time. He is predisposed to peridontal disease and although I work hard to maintain his dental health, it is a loosing battle. His latest dental was last October (minus another 4 teef). The vet started him on antibiotics hoping to knock the infection out and concentrate on the suspected toof (the big one right under his nose). If antibiotics have no effect, then we will take more drastic diagnostic steps. Please let me know if anyone has had this type of problem. I realise that this is a trivial condition compared with the big health issues other greys are having but I cannot help worrying. Any anecdotes of similar experiences would greatly appreciated. Thanks, GoinGrey
  3. Alas! It is not my kitty and instead of getting proper meds, poor kitty was given a flea collar. I am looking after her from time to time as her owners are doing renovation to their house. She is not a full-time guest (unfortunately, her little buddies decided to stay!) Although I suggested they put her on anit-flea meds, her owners thought differently. Can kitty with a flea collar safely come to visit? (Her owners really don't have anyone else who can take her at this time) Itchy & Scratchy (GoinGrey)
  4. The scenario: Visiting kitty brought some friends. Hound is on Advantage and is OK Hoomans are scratching Questions: 1. Although hound cannot wear flea collar, can kitty? (or is it too toxic to hound to have such close access?) 2. I may need to powder the house. Does anyone know of any good product, available in Canada, preferably in pet-stores, that I can use to clean the house, that will not harm the hound? (my internet search reveal lots of products in USA which are not stocked in Canadian stores, so I need Canadian brand names) I am specifically requesting Brand names and which stores they may be found. If this contravenes GT guidelines, please PM me your responses instead. Thanks, GoinGrey (Itchy & Scratchy)
  5. If anyone should be allowed to break the laws in Boomerland, it should be Brody! Thanks for the update and have a Happy Thanksgiving! GoinGrey
  6. Shamelessly bumping for a pupdate on Brody... GALT rocks! GoinGrey
  7. Kenny recommends bananas with peanut butter. Bananas because of the potassium. And peanut butter because of the peanut butter. Dr. Kenny (as dictated to GoinGrey)
  8. A friend had a cat that went nutty all of a sudden. Turns out that the cat found a blood pressure pill that an elderly person dropped. Best idea is to visit the vet and take along the container of "parasite powder". Greys cannot handle certain anti-parasite meds and you will want to know if you can continue to use the stuff you have been using, or if you have to discontinue. Best of luck! Hugs to Tigger!
