  1. We dealt with the same type of issues- we switched to raw and he didn't have another problem for the rest of his life...in fact- upon the switch, the next day his stool was wonderfully firm and maybe even bounced when it hit the ground...only those who have dealt with scraping up pan cake batter stool can appreciate how wonderful that was. I have been feeding all my dogs raw for 9 years now and we are thrilled with the results.

  2. How horrible for both of you. She is now pain free and has join the ranks of some of the most wonderful greyhounds that ever walked this earth- they will take good care of her. The hard part is those of us they leave behind.

With tears and hugs, please know that we are thinking of you.

  3. There aren't any antibiotics that work for viral infections. Antibiotics work on bacterial infections. It is also very unlikely that an adult dog has corona virus and has most likely been vaccinated against the self limiting virus every year of their pet life.

There are many things that can cause loose stool. The two dogs I am most familiar with lately both had cancer- one has lymphoma and the other had a growth in her intestine. The first dog was treated for many things before the another vet finally looked for another reason for the cause rather than treating the symptoms.

Has she been treated for worms? Whips can cause liquid stool. Is her stool just liquid or is there urgency as well?

My first greyhound, Nate, always had loose to liquid stool on kibble. When we changed his diet to one without any grains it immediately improved.

As for walking- you might try a trick that friend would do to help pick up soft/loose stool- clumping cat litter- bad for cats great for cleaning up messes.

  4. I am all in favour of feeding sugar beet pulp, it is not a "useless" filler as some people think....but it is wise to find the cause of a dogs digestive woes rather than just covering them up.

I think it is more a question of apporpriate food source rather than useless. I certainly seems to help older horses keep weight on but...my dogs aren't horses.

Now I think its time to post the story of the squirrel and the beet pulp...

  5. Oh, I'm so terrbily sorry. I just saw this. What a shock it must have been for you and your whole family of hounds and humans. Although hardest on us, it is a blessing he went quickly. You will be in our thoughts.

  6. Such a wonderful special girl. You are so lucky to have shared your life with such a special soul and she was lucky to have found two people that loved her so much. You are all in our thoughts during this difficult time.

  7. Oh Jenn- I can't believe it. It is so hard when they leave us suddenly. He was such a wonderful dog and you made a perfect family. It always feels like there is a huge hole in your heart when they go but you will soon learn that they are always with us.

  8. What a fitting tribute to a lovely girlie. We enjoyed meeting her at Dewey. She reminds me so much of Chloe.

Big hugs to all of you. I think we get to be better people for the wonderful creatures that share our lives. They teach us so much in such a short period of time.
