  1. Willow - mega pewy breath due to gum problems. She had that problem when we adopted her at 2. Brushing, peroxide wiping and regular dentals for her. Merlin - almost no teeth when we adopted him and what was there was still not good as were his gums. Not as bad now that he is mostly toothless. Regular dentals are a must for him as he is too sensitive for brushings...not that he has much to brush. Peroxide wipes or chlorahexidine wipes for him. Butch...old fart with stinky breath...loves greenies and the super hard sterilized bones. Hayley - had bad teeth from the day we adopted her but the breath isn't too bad. Dentals when needed. Trace....5 years old with great teeth and gums. No stinky breath.
  2. What a terrible and tragic story. My heart goes out to Scarlett's family.

    Old Fella

Diane just told me about this thread as I have not seen much of anything over the past 3 days. I am so sorry that he has passed but thankful that he was loved so much after his ordeal. I will read through the rest of the posts later when I can cry in private. Farewell sweet "Old Fella" your story has touched our hearts in so many ways and we are thankful that we were all made a part of your life. May you find much peace and joy across the Bridge. The Greyhound Angel Network is honored to carry your name on our senior fund. With great sadness...and love, Marina
  4. May your new life bring you more happiness than your previous. Farewell sweet blue boy.

  7. Farewell sweet Magic. I am so sorry Diane.....
  8. Fenny was just a darling old fellow. I am so glad I got to see him again when we were down there on Nov 26th. It's so comforting knowing that Louise and her staff will take in hounds in need and give them a safe haven for as long as necessary. Run free sweet Fenny.
  9. Thanks everyone. Chup's family appreciates all of your kind thoughts. She was unable to walk yesterday morning and her daddy said she looked at him with a face that told him she was tired and it was time to go. Her crossing was very quick and peaceful and she did so in the arms of her daddy. They have many years of wonderful memories to carry in their hearts of their beloved Chups.
  10. My dear friends are have had a very hard year and a half. Today they are helping their 11 year old greyhound gal, Chups, cross the Bridge. This will be their 3rd loss in that timeframe. Poor Chups had been ill for about a week or so and on Sunday showed extreme swelling in her legs. She was taken to the E-vet and tests discovered that she was more than likely bleeding internally due to a significant protein loss. Monday's ultrasound confirmed their worst fears. Chups has a significant tumor near her stomach and because of her age and physical condition operating is not an option. Chups will be helped across the Bridge at 9am this morning where she will join her two brothers and all of our angels. May you run free forever dear Chups. You are such a sweet girl.
  11. Oh no Patricia...I just saw this...oh my gosh...I am so sorry. So sorry that I cannot finds the words right now through the tears. You have my deepest sympathy. Run free Lady Sophia with the rest of our angels. Patricia.....to you and your family

    Tasha

My very good friends, and new member to Greytalk (4paws), helped their beloved 11 year old greyhound, Tasha, cross the bridge this afternoon. Tasha, who was their 1st greyhound, was adopted through GPS in NH by the Taylors several years ago after being bounced back and at the kennel for some time. The Taylors were able to give Tasha a loving home for the rest of her retirement years. Sadly she was diagnosed with aggressive osteo cancer of the breastbone last week. Tasha was a petite girl with plenty of personality and she will be missed by those of us that knew her. May she find peace across the bridge and play happily with all of our angels.

    Solo

Oh Diane....I am so very sorry. Sometimes it's not about how long they can hang on but how wonderful the special time is they have to spend with those who love them. You gave Solo unconditional love and I have no doubt he was greatful for your care and companionship. May he run free with the rest of our angels.

    She's Gone...

I am very sorry for your loss.
  19. I wanted to extend my sympathy and send a hug to all those who have recently lost a beloved pet. I used to read all the posts and respond but over time I found that the waterworks would come with a vengence as I remember how much I miss my Bridge kids. I did a post like this once before and wanted to again to let you know that I am not ignoring your sadness and trying times, it has just been hard lately to read the sad posts.
  20. Hayley battled multiple internal parasites and I'm sure she had ticks and fleas when she arrived at her foster home. Merlin had been in foster care for 10 months so he was clean when I adopted him. Willow had a couple ticks..that was it. Trace had ticks and a nasty case of roundworms. Most of my fosters have had ticks, fleas and worms when they came off the track.
  21. Our 4 hounds are pretty quiet over all. I chose once a week as that was the closest answer to what actually occurs. Hayley is the watchdog but only bark when she plays, something is out of the ordinary or startles her or the doorbell rings. If she starts the others will follow suit, except for Trace. Willow barks when she plays or when she is demanding I let her join me on the sofa (and stamps her feet too...it's so cute). Trace barked non-stop in the crate for 3 months when we were fostering him. I never thought he would stop barking but he did. Now he barely makes a peep. Ginger and Brannigan (Bridge Kids) never barked.
  22. I am so very sorry for the loss of your dad and Oz. May they always be able to play together over the rainbow.
  23. I knew I shouldn't have read this...I just can't make it through these without bawling lately. Poor Billie, I hope he did not suffer much.
  24. I have not been reading the posts in Rememberance lately because they seem to bring me to tears more than usual. So....since I usually post my sympathy in individual messages, I wanted everyone who has suffered a loss of their beloved pet(s) to know they have my sympathy and understanding and I am sorry for not posting in the recent messages. I do understand and am here if you need a shoulder to cry on.
  25. I am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the grief you are feeling. Don't blame yourself for this. Many of us have used kennels for our greys with success. I guess my question would be why was she outside for 3 hours. Most kennels that I know don't do that. They might take the dog out for a half hour play time, which you of course pay extra for. Nothing we say will ease the pain. I hope a big hug will help just a little.
