  1. God’s Angels

We’re put on this earth to do what we can

To be kind to all animals and our fellow man

Some do this well and some can’t do it at all

But a few special folk do hear God’s call.

The folk that take in all God’s waifs and strays

Give them love and care till the end of their days

They’re special beyond the words I can reach

They just get on and do – have no need to preach.

But as each waif passes on to live at God’s side

Another small part of the carer’s heart dies

For to give so much love is a selfless thing

When you know from the start the pain it will bring.

So although right now the pain is still raw

Take heart from knowing it’s you they adored

And when your turn comes in the fullness of time

The dogs that you love will be waiting in line.

Till then they’ll be close, not far from your side

They’ll lick away tears that fall from your eyes

And when you feel the bed dip in the night

Know that they’re with you – just out of sight.

For the love that you shared can never die

    It’s only farewell, never goodbye

The dogs that you love, you will meet again

Till that time arrives they’re your faithful friends.

  2. She's OK Belinda. I lost my Cody on February 18, 2002 and I still cry over him because I miss him in my life. I have five greyhounds now but Cody will always have a special place in my heart. Each one is special in their own way. I have my own greyhound rescue group now and we started the "Cody Fund" a fund for greyhounds that need special medical care. Everytime someone donates something to the Cody fund, I think fondly of him and I know that he is alive in my memory and in the work we do to find homes for greyhounds. You are doing wonderful things for greyhounds and their people and you can rest assured that she is your inspiration. They may not be with us physically, but they will always have a special place in our hearts, memory, and soul. Celebrate her life in what you do and continue the good work that you do in her memory.

  3. Belinda:

No one loves their dogs more than you and Ray and it shows in everything you do. Just know that Tasha had the love and care that she deserved. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  4. I've felt the same loss. And none of the greyhounds we now have compare to the one I lost. But remember, they are still alive in our memory. When we mourn their loss, we show respect. We should always opening mourn the losses of our greyhounds as that is what they deserve. It's OK to cry when we miss them. They deserve it. It's OK to talk about them. They deserve it. And it's OK to keep them in a separate (and special place) when we move on and adopt others. They deserve it. It's OK. We love them and that is what they deserve.
