Guest verthib
Swimming in a fog. I had tears with this thread while laughing. Give him one beano after dinner each night. It'll help. Beano is safe for greyhounds? I had tried giving him prozyme in the past... caused vomiting. The vet had suggested Metamucil... poop became a little looser, so I stopped that. I'd be willing to give Beano a try if it helps him. Definitely more gas when he's stressed. Oh, and he doesn't seem to have gas after breakfast, just dinner. He gets fed the same thing and amount for both. Does he get treats during the day that would start to bother him by dinnertime/after dinner? Maybe it's the treats? Anyway, here's a vet post about beano. I've given it to Angus on occassion and it does help. Guest Tiptons_Mom
Does the fact that I'm cracking up reading this thread mean I'm juvenile? I can't help it- I find the subject hilarious. (Of course, only now that Topper rarely has gas anymore-a scoop of yogurt on top of his food every morning seems to do the trick) If it does, then I am also juvenile. I am dying laughing, but mostly because I know what that stench is like. Tipton had it bad, but since I have changed his food and he has settled in it is not really an issue. LOL Thanks! We use his kibble as treats. He has a sensitive stomach, so we found that using his regular kibble for treats worked the best. I had been reading all the threads about the Iams green bag and the dried beet pulp lately, so I decided to buy a bag of the beet pulp yesterday. It sounds like it would have a similar effect as what the vet said Metamucil would have (if it had worked when we tried it), so thought it would be worth a shot (both for gas and for poops). Can't buy the Iams because Timo is allergic to chicken and possibly some grains. When he was on either in the past, not only did we have bad poops, but also extremely itchy skin that he would chew until raw. I'll put Beano on my list to try next.
