He was MY BOY and I was his mom....

  2. When I saw her name... I started to cry (still crying as I type) I'm sorry for your pain... But know, my heart hurts for you...

When I heard she needed help with transport... I knew I would do anything for one of Mandy's babies...I remembering walking Choo at the airport and thinking she had Mandy's swagger.... From stories, I think they were very similar. I feel your pain.... Our girls were special, no doubt...

When I heard the news, I couldn't bring myself to ask, I'm sorry for that......

I also met Show... At the time I didn't know he was going home with you... I was so happy when I heard that news....

They were without a doubt, 2 awesome dogs... They were LOVED that's what matters!!

He was the first, the orignal....

BIG, Black and BAD...And just bounced from being in a home.

My sister and I were 2 single girls living in an apartment.

We bought him a house, so he could have a forever home. We spent the last 10 years growing up together...

But, he's gone...I'm broken....Another piece of me missing.....

There's so much more to say about him...But I can't...

    He was loved......

  4. An insulinoma,( pancreatic tumor)

My sweet momma had one... It will cause hypogylcemia. Which caused my momma to become weak, collapse and seize... Sometimes she'd be dazed and confused.

Only way we were able to diagnosis is was with an insulin glucose ratio test... We did EKG, cardiac monitoring, ultrasound... All came back normal...

I was told by one vet... If sugar/corn syrup stops the seizure... You know your dealing with hypogylcemia..

We did frequent meals/snacks and prednisone.... Eventually we started with diazoxide, which we had to have compounded..

Surgery wasn't an option... We did regular glucose monitoring, with our own meter.. We learned to when her sugar was low.. We kept her going for a good 1.5 years..

    Feel free to contact me...

    Good luck....

  5. I have a 3 month old and 2 big nutty boys....

When I first found out I was pregnant I literally started reading every book available on the subject of kids and dogs...(PM me your address and Ill send you the ones I can find)

Practice walking with an empty stroller, before the baby even comes. (Yes, your neighbors will think your nuts) My shy boy was afraid of the stroller..so walking 2 big boys was a challenge at first. Even my confident boy needed the practice, as well as, I did, handling both stroller and dogs.

I was lucky enough to bring my boys to my sister house until we (baby, husband and I) got settled. I did short visits for a couple of days. That's when I noticed her crying made my shy boy nervous. I recorded the crying and my sister randomly played it for him, helping him get used to it.At first, he still was anxious when she'd cry (he'd come running FULL force at us. Which made me nervous)...But now, he is used to it..

As far as routine...good luck... There is no routine, which REALLY REALLY throws them off...This has been the hardest..Hopefully, we will get back to some type of schedule soon...

I also practice messing with them while they eat..As well as handling them more like a kid would...Gently poking..pulling..touching their tails, eyes, ears..(all the parts kids go for)

The boys know the rules so it's MY job to teach the baby...Its MY responsibility to keep everyone safe...NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER leaving them unattended..

They still get attention and love..Actually longer walks. Now, I don't even know if they realize she's still here!!

    Good luck!!

I asked her to wait until my first baby was born. I needed my girls to meet, I wanted Momma to see I was a momma now too....I think she knew the hole in my heart would have to be filled........she waited.

Courtney born 7/21. They met 7/25. Mandy 7/26//2010

"Oh Mandy..you came and you gave without taking. But I need you today, Oh Mandy"

  7. I just came home from McDonalds with a chicken biscuit for Mandy, who will be 13 next week!!! I know the challeneges of food games. Its trial and error on a daily basis....But usually I can get her to take an Ensure..

I have noticed that Mandy is not a breakfast eater...I can get almost always get her to eat lunch...

baby food..canned tripe...Natural Balance food rolls...roast beef..a Whopper..liver balls...and believe it or not sometimes she'll eat DOG FOOD!!

Rule out anything medical..then let the food games begin!!! Good luck, with your ole girl..

  8. I do have a set of these. Roger can not keep them on. I could not pull them in tight enough to stay on his skinny legs. I do not have any rag weed in my yard but I guess the pollen could blow from somewhere else.

They are difficult at first because they are so stiff!!!...try folding the excess bootie then using the velco around and around....(I'll try to take a picture) I did an experiment with them at first...only putting the booties on his front feet..when I noticed the front were getting better I KNEW I was getting close to an answer...

Just a litle info...ragweed pollen season runs from August to November...it can also linger around in old dead leaves...

I feel your and Rogers pain.....it's horrible, I know!!!

  9. Henry has this problem.... His feet definately get worse when the grass is wet!!....

We did everything...changing food, bedding, cleaners, air freshners...vets, allergerist...

I figured out it was grass related by being consistent with his booties...Within days of wearing them you could see he wasn't chewing them and the bloodly red knuckles were improving...But the booties HAD to be 100% waterproof..the only ones I could find are these kind

I was told it was ragweed pollen or mold spores.
