Rowdy

On Friday April 26th at 10:30 AM, Rowdy crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The Vet, Faith and I said goodbye (all of us with tears flowing from our eyes). Rowdy never made a sound but just starting breathing easier than I had heard in weeks. Thanks for all the advice, concern and prayers. I know the decisions I made were the ones I can live with. It was true that we both knew it was time strange as it was. Mike

my heart goes out to you in your loss of Rowdy...today marks the 3rd anniversary of my beloved Bart's passing over the bridge... he was two days short of his 5th birthday...he will always have an extra special place in my heart as he introduced me to the wonderful world of greyhounds, and for that i will always be eternally grateful...may God hold your aching heart in his hands...

I am so sorry to hear of Rowdy's passing.  You and your family are in my thoughts.  Know now that he is pain free.

Daisy & Eli, the crazy hounds, and Bella & Zoe, the curly kitties,
and Jed (10.30.98 - 11.28.08) & Ripple (3.25.99 - 8.20.09) together again at the bridge
with Cleo-Kitty (10.8.1988 - 7.26.2007) always in my heart.

My Deepest Sympathies  to you both.

BEYOND LIFE'S GATEWAY

Little one lie down your head

The day is closed, it's time for bed!

The gentle winds blow to and fro

And all of nature seems to know...

That day has fled and all around

The evening comes without a sound.

A glorious calm has settled deep

Upon the day. It's time for sleep.

May dreams of fields and running free

Fill every moment of your sleep.

May peaceful rest bring you this day

To yonder shore beyond the gate.

I'll linger here awhile just yet,

But you go on, my loving pet.

T'is time for us to part our way,

Until the coming of the day...

When we again will meet once more

Beyond Life's Gateway, on yonder shore.

But for a time we both must wait

On either side God's shining gate.

And should you see me crying there

It's not because I think unfair

The shortness of the days we shared

T'is only that I loved and cared.

So go my gentle, little one

With all my love into the sun

I'll join you on another day

When all earth's cares shall pass away.

Mike and family - words are inadequate to express our sympathy.  We helped our girl cross the bridge nearly 2 years ago and it broke our hearts.  They leave a hole your heart but also leave beautiful memories that no one can ever take away.  God bless you and yours.  We are here for you if you need us.

Mike,

I'm so very sorry to hear about Rowdy. One of my greys, Genny, went over the bridge a month ago, so I can certainly empathize with you.

Here is a little poem my Vet sent along with flowers after Genny died. I hadn't heard it before, but it is awfully nice:

If it should be I grow frail and weak

and pain prevents my peaceful sleep.

Then you must do what must be done

when this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand.

Selfishness might stay your hand.

But on this day, more than the rest,

Your love and friendship take the test.

We've had som many happy years

that what's to come can hold no fears.

You'd not want me to suffer. So,

When the time comes let me go.

Take where my needs they'll tend.

Only - stay with me until the end.

Hold me firm and speak to me,

until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you too shall see,

it is a kindness that you do for me.

Although my tail its' last has waved.

From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Do not grieve it should be you

who must decide this thing to do.

We've been so close, we two, these years...

Do not let your heart hold any tears.

-Anon.

I am so sorry. Rowdy is running pain free with my two Bridge Kid Greys and many others. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You gave Rowdy a happy life, this was your final gift to him.

Greyhound angels at the bridge- Casey, Charlie, Maggie, Molly, Renie, Lucy & Teddy. Beagle angels Peanut and Charlie. And to all the 4 legged Bridge souls who have touched my heart, thank you. When a greyhound looks into you eyes it seems they touch your very soul.

Our deepest sympathy to you and your family on Rowdy's

crossing The Bridge. You did the right thing for him, and

one day you will meet again. I am sure there were many

of GT's Bridge Kids there to greet him, including our Emmy.

Mike and Faith,

I'm very sad to hear your news about Rowdy.  I'm sure those last two weeks with him were precious, and know that your connection with him in spirit will never be broken.  Afterall, he has your heart, as you do his.  May your memories of him be sweet, until you meet again.

If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring you home again.

I am so very sorry about Rowdy's passing....you have to trust that you did the right thing and know that you were the best parent to Rowdy.  You are in my prayers.

Nan, your poem was very touching.  I could not get through it without tearing up....

Since adopting a senior Greyhound who will be turning 11 on May 1st.  I have to admit that I've been thinking about the day when Duke crosses the bridge...I hope I can handle it... :??
