Time4ANap
Miss Jan, When we lived where it snowed (and froze) I used to put down horse stall bedding on top of the hard snow layer or the ice in Rocket's turnout area. It deosn't take much bedding material to give them a good surface to stand on and keep paws from burning. In the Spring I just raked it up and mixed it with the mulch. The bedding was usually good until the next layer of snow fell, so a bale or 2 lasted us most of the winter in our small fenced turnout area. I'm betting if you put down a small area of bedding that will become the new turnout spot. . Quote Camp Broodie. The current home of Mark Kay Mark Jack and Gracie Kiowa Safe Joan. We've had multiple storms in such a short time that I don't see padding the ground as an option right now but it could work once things settle down (they will, right? ). In the meantime, when we go for longer walks the girls have Denier nylon booties and do fine with them, other than Punkin's disgust with them haha. Quote Old Dogs are the Best Dogs. BatterseaBrindl
Lots of We have the same up here. And it’s knot going to melt anytime soon with temps dropping significantly later next week. FYI…. Putting shavings or straw over the snow may give them a ‘soft’ place for now but it also acts as insulation and the snow under it will take a very long time to melt.
