steerpike
Does anyone have any experience of taking a Greyhound in a camper van? Do they adapt well and come to see it as an extension of the home? Or does it make them anxious?
MP_the4pack
Depends on the dog. Some will love it, some will be anxious. You know your dog. Do they love rides and just want to be with you? Or are they homebodies?
steerpike
He loves a ride in the car - usually cos he knows he's going somewhere fun. I guess ultimately there's only one way to find out.
macoduck
Are you just driving in a camper van or going camping? You'll have many more precautions to take if you will be camping. Houndtime
Our's were very comfortable in our trailer. It was crowded as we had three dogs most of the time. They really loved the traveling part and meeting lots of new people and dogs. They literally stopped traffic wherever we went. We were a bigger attraction at Niagara Falls than the falls. Just kidding. 1Moregrey
We traveled the Midwest to weekend events my two loved it. I used the nonfunctional shower for them put dog beds in it so they had a space of there own when everyone was in it. Just remember a containment gate so no one sneaks out if multiple people will use the camper. Enjoy
zimsmom
I camped in a pop up with Maya & now Mackenley. Mackenley has trouble peeing & pooping due to anxiety but otherwise is fine. She is never left unattended and when outside attached to my or in her crate.
Time4ANap
Rocket loved traveling but HATED small spaces. As an example, he even hated small hotel rooms like Red Roof Inns or similar. The real key for him was being able to see outside. If he couldn't see out a window because of the way the room was designed or if it had high windows that he couldn't see out of, he hated every minute of being there. You might want to rent or borrow a similar van before you go all-in and make sure that the dog is okay with small enclosed spaces. Quote Camp Broodie. MarkRo
We took Tex everywhere in our Roadtrek 21 foot camper van. I'd open the door and say "get in your spot" and he'd jump into bed and usually go to sleep. Of course, some mornings I'd wake up with a greyhound leg in my face but that's the risk you run. Feeding was a bit of a challenge only because he took up the aisle and I probably stepped on and dumped his water bowl a few dozen times. You need to be a bit more organized for the inevitable midnight dog walk just because there's not a lot of room to get dressed and you want the leash on and everything organized before you open the door lest you find yourself less than fully clothed running after a greyhound in the dark. Another issue was the Roadtrek wasn't great for leaving Tex alone for a long while simply because it didn't have an air conditioner that could be left on. I installed two fans which were adequate for an hour or so as long as the temperature was less than 85F. If we would be longer or the temperature was going to be higher, we simply didn't do the activity.

LoveMyGrey+2
We went across the United States in our 26 foot motorhome with a greyhound and a Doberman. It was a wonderful trip. They both enjoyed being with us in close quarters and getting out and walking, doing dog parks hiking and just seeing the outside world. It was a magnificent trip. we spent 3 1/2 months on the road. We doggy day camped them for only one day. Our grey was wonderful and our dobie failed miserably. I wish we could do this again, but they are at the Rainbow bridge. We have wonderful memories.
