  1. 1. Should I be having sleepless nights already, due to being excited to re-home our first ever Greyhound in 14 days time??

    • Yes, absolutely! They are the best dogs ever and you're going to love it.
    • No you madman, you have no idea what you've let yourself in for...

Haha I wished I could tick both responses! It’s more like ‘you have no idea what you’ve let yourself in for, they are the best dogs ever!’ Buddy is our first dog as responsible (ish) adults and we are so glad we got a greyhound (we were looking for a German shepherd). We worried a lot that we weren’t the best place for him in the first 12 months, then something changed which I can’t put my finger on, and we relaxed. Mine is a little clingy with a sensitive stomach but the joy we get from him far outweighs any issues we might have, and it feels like he has always been. Welcome to the club!

I'd vote for "all of the above", and I've only had 14 greyhounds. Felt the same way with each of them on the eve of their arrival.

Freshy (Droopys Fresh), NoAh the podenco orito, Rita the podenco maneta, Howie the portuguese podengo maneto
Angels:  Lila, the podenco, Mr X aka Denali, Lulu the podenco andaluz, Hada the podenco maneta, Georgie Girl (UMR Cordella),  Charlie the iggy,  Mazy (CBR Crazy Girl), Potato, my mystery ibizan girl, Allen (M's Pretty Boy), Percy (Fast But True), Mikey (Doray's Patuti), Pudge le mutt, Tessa the iggy, Possum (Apostle), Gracie (Dusty Lady), Harold (Slatex Harold), "Cousin" Simon our step-iggy, Little Dude the iggy ,Bandit (Bb Blue Jay), Niña the galgo, Wally (Allen Hogg), Thane (Pog Mo Thoine), Oliver (JJ Special Agent), Comet, & Rosie our original mutt.

You have no idea what you've let yourself in for and don't think you have foreseen all the possible problems and joys coming your way.

It's not for nothing the unofficial motto of this forum is time, patience and a sense of humour. :D

Grace (Ardera Coleen) b. 18 June 2014 - Gotcha Day 10 June 2018 - Going grey gracefully
Guinness (Antigua Rum) b. 3 September 2017 - Gotcha Day 18 March 2022 - A gentleman most of the time

Thanks guys, really excited to get her home next week! Previously have had a Springer Spaniel for 15 years and beleive me, you need patience with one of those little tinkers! No doubt she will keep us on our toes, but we are up for the challenge. She has just retired from racing and has just turned 3 years old so she is no doubt ready for a nice long retirement with us! Thanks for the comments, all help, tips etc appreciated and I will keep you all updated on the journey!

Welcome!  You may not have realized it but you've just joined a religious cult. We worship greyhounds. (Well that's what they think)

I'm on #12 and looking at maybe #13 since I just lost one. I always have at least 2 at a time, and up to as many as 4. I think others on this board have had many more.  But as a single person 4's my limit. But it is fun to watch people's faces as one after another greyhound hops out of my SUV.  (Especially when I sat or fostered 1-2 more.)
