smurfette Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Hello everyone, I haven't been here like for ages. I got my second breast cancer diagnosis in September 2019. It was a curse but also a blessing in disguise because I was able to spent the last 6 month with Andy who we had to let got due to laryngeal paralysis in February (2 weeks after his 14th birthday). I was sad but not as devastated as I feared I would be. We had a wonderful time together and were both ready when it came to end. He had lost control of his hind end and couldn't go for walkies anymore. We let him go before paralysis got the better of him. I will write an eulogy for him in the rainbow bridge but the words still elude me. He was so much more than I can put in words. I needed time but finally fell in love again. Last Saturday I drove to Heidelberg to help with a transport from Ireland that came to our little adoption group. And there he was. I signed his papers on sight. I like all of you meet Abu (Cillowen Abu), 3 year old, Irish coursing greyhound who came into our home and just was there as if he had been home for years. Quote Sorry for butchering the english language. I try to keep the mistakes to a minimum. Nadine with Paddy (Zippy Mullane), Saoirse (Lizzie Be Nice), Abu (Cillowen Abu) and bridge angels Colin (Dessies Hero) and Andy (Riot Officer).

racindog Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Good to hear from you again! Abu is simply...STUNNING! No doubt about it- he picked you. You are blessed. And BTW your English is perfect! Looking forward to hearing about Abu's new adventures. We love you both. Keep in touch. And don't be surprised if Andy sends you a message to let you know all is well with him. They often do that. One common way is that a lot of times a dog we currently have will allow the departed one to 'use' him to let you know by the living dog exhibiting behaviors etc. that are common to the departed ones. If Andy does you will know immediately because you will recognize his energy. It is very real and very comforting and happens quite a bit so if it happens just savor it. The departed ones can send rainbows, or butterflies, or feathers or do any number of amazing and 'unexplainable' things that you will recognize. You can tell from the pictures that Abu is strong and kind. He will be good for you-and you, for him. Quote
