rsieg Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Title says it all. A coworker asked this morning, she had seen an all-white dog and thought it might be a greyhound, but wasn't sure. Internet search found white & black and white & brindle greyhounds, but no all-white greyhounds. So does the all-white variety exist? (Of course, pictures would be great :-) Quote Rob Logan (April 7, 2010 - July 9, 2023) - - Max (August 4, 2004 - January 11, 2018)
oldrunners Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 I have seen two who were white in their youth, but over the years they both developed some red or black ticking. Quote
Remolacha Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 I remember seeing one that was adopted from a California group about 10 years ago, he was all white with blue eyes. Stunning. Quote
EddiesMom15 Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 I have seen two or three all white Greyhounds. Quote You! Out of the gene pool!

MaryJane Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Not common at all in greyhounds but, it could have been a galgo (sort of a Spanish greyhound). I have seen quite a few that are all white. Quote
greysmom Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 They do exist, though a truly white greyhound is likely to have color-linked deafness. Many are *mostly* white - with either very small spots/patches, or ticking which can come and go. Our white girl has head patches (in the pic below) with body ticking that changes pretty seasonally. I remember when we first started researching greyhounds, I fell in love with Bessie Walker, who was available for adoption (not in my area) and was mostly white, except for brindle on her face and one ear. Not only was she stunning, but Bessie Walker was my great-grandmother's name! It would have been so cool to adopt her (though no regrets with Sweep, of course!). Houndtime Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Dennis and Claire Tyler had white greyhounds with blue eyes. I believe that they were deaf as well. Some one else will remember better than I. kronckew Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I've been told pure white with blue eyes mammals are almost all deaf, the gene responsible causes all three. Knew a nice neighbour's cat a few years back, all white, blue eyes, deaf as a post. Very friendly.
