BatterseaBrindl Posted August 5, 2019 Share Posted August 5, 2019 'Watch Me Dash' aka Ruby..... As her 8th Gottcha Day approaches I guess it is time to say a proper goodbye. After only a day in her first 'forever home', Ruby was bounced back to Northern Greyhound Adoptions in Vermont. She was diagnosed with SA. And there she sat. For almost a year. In August 2011 we were looking to add to our pack after the loss of my first Therapy Dog, BillieJean. Greyhound Nixon had settled in here so well the following year, carrying on the TD torch, so I thought we should 'try' getting another Greyhound. So off I went to the kennel in Vermont, meeting up with Donna & Klaus from T-Legs. Now, I had heard quite a lot about this little 'Ruby' dog with SA that needed a home with other dogs and semi-retired people. "No pressure" I was told. But please look. Please. So I looked. And we had a heart-to-heart chat. Oh... that curly tail. And the chocolate face... So little Ruby came home to OhCanada And wore her 'Ruby Red Slippers' bandanna and collar everywhere we went.... And Oh My Goodness! What a little pistol she was. Ruled the roost. Kept Nixon and our little Bandit in line. But Ruby had a softer side, easily passing the TD Certification and loved her visits to the 'Oldies' at our local LTC. She also was successful at the difficult 'Child Friendly TD test. Even as she aged, Rubys' firecracker personality never lessened. She would leap up and down and spin herself silly every time the leashes came out. I called her my Kangaroo Hound ....and she was a Kanagroo right until the end. You are missed so very, very much, my sweet wee girlie....
