Senior Food W/less Than 10% Crude Fat

Hero has pancreatitis and food suggested by vet VERY expensive. Hoping to find something not quite so expensive and would appreciate any suggestions. I figure I'd get more help here than having to search all the dog food websites. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

look into the reduced calorie foods for over weight dog. science diet, solid gold: taste of the wild ocean blend blue seal and more all have foods that are around or less than 10%. i went thru the same thing with felix. no way can i afford a rx diet. he did loose weight on the low fat foods and his skin and coat went down hill. i supplemented with carbs. some vets like to keep them on low fat forever, some feel that when the flare up is over they can go to a moderate fat food. felix was doing well on purina pro-plan salmon and rice, moderate fat, then our new dog came in eating pro plan sport- 30/20. and of course felix stole as much as he could and had another flare up.

 

 

look up the other conversations, keep rice and chicken breast on hand and start the research. occasionally i fed the science diet canned ID low fat, hills does have some awesome coupons. i had everyone i know printing them up. they are very stingy with their coupons.

We always had good luck with foods from Precise. They have a Weight Management Food that is about 7% Crude Fat and a Senior Food that is right at 10%. We fed their various foods for several years until we needed a switch due to Rocket's overall digestive issues. Nothing related to his food as a cause, but over time he would eventually "outgrow" a food and need a change to a new food to rectify gastro issues.
