FiveRoooooers Posted September 5, 2018 Share Posted September 5, 2018 I'd posted in Ghillie's thread earlier about Aiden 1-5's left front toe but I don't want to hijack that thread, so here is an update. Today the nefarious toe was removed. The issue simply wasn't resolving. Some days the hole in the toe would weep, other times it appeared closed and on it's way to mending, then it would weep again. Meanwhile, Aiden was not comfortable on it nor was he sound. After much discussion, exploration, xrays, and hand-wringing, we felt the only thing left to do was to take the toe. Aiden spent the day at our awesome clinic and I picked him up tonight, still a bit drunk but ready to come home. He got through the anesthesia without incident and while he was out they did a partial dental (no extractions this time). The bandage he was sent home in is very impressive. And, I saw the toe. Ugh. Poor Aiden 1-4. He'd had the most beautiful front feet of any greyhound. Now he's missing a toe on each front foot, as well as having the sprung toe on the right hind. But for all his trips to the clinic and all the procedures he's had, he still walked in this morning smiling and wagging and greeting everyone. Aiden is doing mostly well. He is being Very good about leaving his wrap alone. I just wish the site would hurry up and heal already (it's only been a week tomorrow)!
