schnookums
Just wondering how much bone broth can be fed per day. Blue has dropped a lot of weight (around 16lb) since his reaction to Doxepin in January. The main weight drop of around 14lb was in the first week! He was put on tummy buffers and a gastric reflux tab, after basic bloods and urine tests came back okay. He was put onto Royal Canin ID. I switched him to puppy canned food (mixed with ID) as he had no interest to eat the bland food. I made a pot of bone broth. He seems to have perked since I have been feeding it to him. How much can I give him a day? Any ideas please would be greatly appreciated.
LaFlaca
I am so sorry to hear that Blue is not feeling well. Bone broth is wonderful for both animals and humans. I don't believe that there's a limit to how much the dog can consume. Some folks offer bone broth in lieu of water for a time. Satin Balls are also great nutrition for underweight or ailing dogs. There are other recipes online and, probably, here on GT. schnookums
Dear LaFlaca thanks so much for your prompt reply. Great advice, I will pump up his broth. After a few days on it he has perked up. Even hobbled after a "Pussy Cat" in our back paddock tonight. Then came and told me how clever he was. Your recipes sound great!!! I will give them a go. Thanks again. Newgreymom
Make sure to add Apple Cider Vinegar when making your bone broth as it helps absorb the vitamins
LaFlaca
Turmeric is also a good thing to add to bone broth. Helps with inflammation, cell regeneration and myriad other things. schnookums
Thanks LaFlaca and Newgreymom!!! How much turmeric should I add to a batch of bone broth please. The recipe I have has apple cider vinegar. I am so happy with this broth. It has given Blue a new lease on life, he's my happy little man again, and not panting in the night. Wish more people with greys could try this stuff!! He's my precious little Boy, 12 and 3 months. I guess I am clinging very hard to him after losing my baby girls Schnookie and Lady. The attacks of grief and tears give no notice, creep up unexpected as you all know. Goodnight! XXXXX 7.58 PM here.
LaFlaca
It's so traumatic losing our beloved pets. Wendy has been gone for 9 months and my heart still aches. I made her bone broth in my slow cooker set on low and cooked the bones for 12 hours. I used any meaty bones I could find, turkey necks, chicken feet, beef marrow bones, etc. I added a few cloves of garlic, a tbsp. of turmeric, and 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar. She drank the broth and I would also moisten her kibble with it. I truly believe it kept her alive during those last months. When my brother-in-law was dying of cancer, my bone broth was the only thing he could keep down. I started making bone broth for my 96 year old father-in-law when his health started failing and he had lost his appetite. The stuff is truly miraculous. 7:33 a.m. here. Hope you had a restful night. schnookums
Had a good night thanks! So sorry you lost your darling girl only eight weeks and two days before Schnookie. Wonder if Wendy greeted her on the other side. Nice thought to hold on to. I hope more people read about this wondrous broth, and benefit from its use. Goodnight from this end AND Good morning to you! xx
