Guest karchino
My greyhound will stare at me, then whine or bark. I don't know what he wants. I have tried letting him out, petting him, playing with him to no avail. I wish I could figure out what is behind this as I feel bad not knowing. Any ideas? This is our first greyhound and he's been with us since November.
greysmom
It's a very common greyhound behavior and I don't think anyone has ever figured it out! It's possible it doesn't mean just one thing. Sometimes it's a treat, sometimes attention, sometimes a blanket or a toy. Your guess is as good as the rest of ours!! FiveRoooooers
Senior angel Bosco would do that. He just loved talking "at" me, baiting me with his love. Sometimes they just want to talk. JohnF
Its a request for some aspect of the normal routine to be hurried-up.
LaFlaca
The staring is called 'Greynosis' in my house. That laser-focused stare as they try to mind meld with you to force do their biding. I equate the 'bark-at-you' with a baby crying. They want/need something and it's up to you to figure it out. GreyStella
Stella does this. After all needs are met, it's like she doesn't know what to do with herself so she whines and whimpers. I usually tell her to hush and go settle herself. I agree it is also there way of telling us to hurry up; Stella also does it when she realizes I'm going somewhere. She wants her peanutbutter king. Scoutsmom
It is Bree in my house that does this. I run down the list of possibilities to see if any interest her (go out? water dish is empty? want the bed her brother is in?, etc.) Last night it was that a cat was sitting in front of the water bowl! Sometimes I run thru the list of everything I can think of and she still wants something. She is then forced to settle for an ear rub which may be what she wanted all along! NewGrey2017
If you use Google translator for Greyhound to English, it means, "Hey Dude, go get me a treat."
