Guest Barney
Hi All, First post. After six years without a dog, I decided it was time. For all the reasons you already know about, I decided it had to be a Greyhound. Being a senior myself, i thought it best to look for a senior dog. Sent my application in to a great adoption organization, had my home inspection, and am awaiting a dog to come up from the south. She is nine years old, a retired racer that was bred. She should arrive at the kennel in a month or so. I hope we are a good match, I can't wait to meet her. Wish me luck!
rsieg
Good luck! Do you know the track name of your hound? If so you can type it in the search in the upper right of this page: http://www.greyhound-data.com/ and get her racing history and lineage info. EllenEveBaz
Oh, you're getting a "broody." How wonderful! If the broody stereotypes hold true, she will have you wrapped around her little dewclaw in no time. Remolacha
Broodies are the best, so calm, but still with plenty of play in them! Looking forward to hearing more about your girl.
Bill419
As a senior myself I can say that they are the perfect breed because they are all so calm. I have a bad habit of adopting special needs greyhounds so they require more work but they are worth it. I currently have 4 and they are still easy to take care of. You will love being owned by a greyhound. Guest Barney
Thanks, for the responses. I have done my research, pretty much know what to expect and do. However, there's that pesky subject of elevated bowls. Why does time stand still when you are really looking forward to something? <script> </script>
Bill419
I use raised bowls for the older ones. The others do fine with the bowls on the floor. When I say older: Susie was almost 14 when we adopted her and now Tucker uses a raised bowl. He is almost 13. racindog
A broodie!!!! I adopted 2 broodies over the years and it was very obvious that they are very special!!! They lovingly ruled the roost in my pack and I don't know if I've ever met a more delightfully stubborn creature. Such LOVE! You are blessed to be getting a broodie for sure!
