You showed all of yourself to me from the very beginning, which tells me how comfortable you were to be home, here with your roommate Bruno and the brindle campers. You were so sick and yet your spirit was incredible. My brave boy. Sassy; singing at me with that look in your eyes when you felt spunky, other times singing just because you could; waving that thing attached to your hiney greeting me second-in-line at the door on your good days; and insisting on going out to explore our road and Seamie’s Lane while sporting your new camper collars (thank you NancyB!). You took delight in quietly pushing magazines out of the basket and looking at me like “Wot?” You must have had a private viewing of Seamie’s List because you sure kept me hopping trying to keep up with whatever it was you craved. On the good days, you would bravely eat with as much enthusiasm as you could muster, sometimes from your bowl but more often from a paper plate, a paper towel, or my hands. The noms you enjoyed one day you refused for the next two before scarfing them down again. I was honored to be your chef and waitress. I am thankful for the blessings you received during the Festival of St. Francis, even tho you tried to drink from the sacred water bowl. "...and may you live the rest of your days surrounded by those who love you." When you couldn’t wait for me to get home from work, even on these most recent half days we shared, you found the tile floor in the bathroom suitable for your needs and for that I thank you. Dearest Bosco, I am so sorry I couldn’t fix any of the physical issues you wrestled with for a very long time. It didn’t have to be that way, I am so sorry sweetheart. But from the start you made our camp your own and I have to believe that your heart and spirit were at peace with us. Don’t let anyone tell you nor will I that “it was only 28 days” and that you were anything but a real and true camper! You have your collars with you in case you ever become unsure, but don’t ok? You, dear Bosco, have been the bravest, a real and true camper. How you found the strength to do all that you did is the gift of your inspiration that will remain with me forever. My heartfelt thanks to Bosco’s group for going incredible miles to help him, and to our vets and their staff whom we have loved for years who took impeccable care of my senior boy. You are missed, Dear Bosco, more than you could ever imagine. Godspeed Bravest Boy. I have loved you for 28 days, and will for all those to come. eta: Last night well after last call, Bruno asked to go out again. He went to the fence line and raised his head, sniffing, several times in several directions, somehow, I presume, communicating with or looking for you. If you can, Dear Bosco, please send him a sign that you are well and reassure him that he will be also. In spite of his failing health, he found contentment and happiness in his days at Camp Greyhound.
