Runny Poop

I notice sometimes just randomly my girl has runny poop. She's fed Burns Pork and Potato as recommended. Usually her stools are soft, but occassionally they are quite runny and hard to pick up, there doesn't seem to be a pattern to it though, but I assume there may be one I'm completely oblivious too, does anyone have any ideas? She's fed minimal treats and alongside her burns she gets oily fish 3x a week, again as recommended. I thought it was a nervous thing at first, her settling in and finding the new home stressful, but it happens when she seems perfectly relaxed and happy too, with no outside stressors. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

I did notice today aswell she was urinating more frequently then usual, not sure if these two things are even connected at all, but thought it might be worth mentioning.

How new is she? We have also dealt with this issue; from what I understand, It can be the stress of adjusting to a new place. It can also be the food, we had to try a few different ones to find what would work for my girl. We finally settled on the green bag from Costco after reading lots of suggestions here and she is doing ok on that. The other thing would be to check on hookworms. Some other's who are more experienced than me may chime in with other ideas.

First thing to do is a vet visit to rule out a medical issue - most probably some sort of worm infestation. Even if she's had a negative fecal since coming home, it's worth it to re-do both the test and the treatment. Hookworms have become notoriously hard to get rid of, especially if your girl is from Florida. You can search back here through many, many threads about treating hooks. Other medical causes could be IBS or stress colitis, kidney disease, or liver disease.

I'm not familiar with the food you mentioned, but other causes of loose stools can be food related - from intolerances and allergies, to not enough insoluble fiber, to too high a protein content, to too many calories. There are many suggestions for foods in the Food section here on GT. Many people have good success with the Iams green bag large breed formula (it has more beet pulp fiber than other foods), and the new formulations of the various Kirkland foods at Costco.
