Hello all...

Adopted a beautiful lady, Sasha from the amazing Retired Greyhound Trust at Darlington. in the North East.

I feel like I have won the lottery, lucking out with this gentle, 2 year old girl.

Greyhounds have a presence that is more human than...well most humans
One week in and we are overcoming many obstacles.....Her initial nervousness, Mirrors, the TV, the Stairs (we can get UP but she wont even attempt DOWN yet)

She is also starting to play, well....a little......

I am smitten by her though...shes awesome.

Such a lovely welcome by everyone, honestly, thank you so much.

I came on here to pick up tips and info on how to treat my new girl as best as possible, so I am delighted to see so many cool people (and hounds of course!)

Its a week today since she adopted us, and she is really starting to come out of her shell.

I had no idea just how long they spend snoozing though...lol...my goodnesss, shes a real "quilt hound"

I really would love to put some pics up, as I am beaming with pride, but cant quite navigate the photo uploader.

Still, you are all more than welcome to see her (in various napping stages lol) by seeing the pics on my Twitter page

Sasha is such a beautiful girl with a sweet face. Good that she's already learned how to bed fail and sleep with her head on the floor.

Most hounds have more problems with down stairs than up -- it must seem very precarious for a high-center-of-balance animal to attempt. I usually put a harness on a hound and treat them like a precious suitcase -- hold by the harness and gently go down step by step, with lots of praise and rewards. I don't want them to think that jumping the last 3-5 steps is a good choice.

I did find out some interesting stuff about my Sasha this week.

She was born in Cork, Ireland.

Her grandfather (her Mothers Father) was a famous American Dog called Hondo Black. I googled him and my goodness what a beauty!

Welcome from Fredericksburg, VA., about sixty miles south of DC. Sasha is stunning.

Missing my sweet girl Scout. My snuggler, my chow-hound, my kissy girl.
It never thunders at the Bridge, and your food bowl is ALWAYS filled.

So strange not living in Atty World. I was a love struck handmaiden to your every whim.

Thank you so much!

VA is an amazing place. I have visited the area many, many times, although I think the furthest south I reached was Springfield

I am a huge NHL fan so used to make an annual trip from the UK to DC to cheer on the Capitals

DC is perhaps my favorite place in the Universe!
