Elevated Liver Enzymes/marin Plus And Ursodil

My 11 year old Millie saw the vet 4 days ago for pre-dental blood work. Her liver enzymes show elevation

ALT 409 ALP 261 AST 94

I was very scarred at first, and my vet suggested an ultrasound "at some point", so I just went ahead and had one done.

It came back normal.

The internal medicine doctor at Blue Pearl (very good but very expensive specialty veterinary center) put her on

Marin Plus and ursodil together. My primary vet had suggested denamaron only, which I already give my older 13 year old.

Just wondered for those that have had elevated liver enzymes with their pups, is there much of a difference in the choice of

supplements I've been given from both doctors? I am wondering why the specialist gave the ursodil as it's my understanding that treats gallbladder issues and I was

told hers looked fine on the ultrasound. My primary vet kind of questioned it, but she said "He knows more than I do". The

Specialist said this is standard course of treatment and what he always starts the dogs with liver issues on.

Also, does anyone have a suggestion on some lower fat kibble brands for my girl? I have read that is not a bad idea with the elevated enzymes

Thank you so much for your in put

It's always been my understanding that ursodiol is prescribed for gallbladder issues--sometimes even just for gallbladders considered to be healthy but, contain "sludge". Im in the it can't hurt to try camp-especially if this is what the specialist likes and has had success with.

Remember to give the Denamarin on an empty tummy (ideally after an overnight fast and 2 hours before breakfast).

Forgot about the kibble-a good OTC brand that's lower in fat is Solid Golds WolfKing--naturally lower in fat-Bison based.
