Gt Member: " Miss Donna " From Bow Wow Bonnets

Rocket's Mom was friends on Facebook with Miss Donna from Bow Wow Bonnets. Over the years, many of our hound friends here on GT have had their heads adorned with her creations. Miss Donna's husband posted the announcement of her passing about an hour ago. We are so sorry for the loss of Miss Donna, and send our sincere sympathy to her family and friends. . (Corrrection - the post was made by her son, Rick.)

I know that there will be some of our good friends from the bridge there to meet her, all wearing their finest hat.

In tribute to her, please post your hound in his or her Bow Wow Bonnets creations.

We have a couple of her hats, too. I am so sorry to read this. I wonder, was she sick, does anyone know? Feeling very sad right now.

This is so sad. Donna was an incredibly warm, caring woman who touched so many lives. My heart goes out to her family. She made Pal's Pilgrim Hat in 2004, Sorella's birthday hat in 2013, and these .... Godspeed Donna, so many hounds will be at the Bridge to hug you.

I don't know the whole history but I know that she had several periods of health problems the last few years and got to a point where she couldn't operate the hat business. I know there are a few folks here who were very close to her and we would sometimes hear updates about her through some of them at events. She was huge part of GreyTalk and greyhound life in general for many years. She will be missed by many.

She was in the hospital for an extended period just a few months ago, and had been in and out for varying lengths of time before that. I never did hear/see what was wrong. I also thought Rick was her son??? :blush

Many of you will remember our boy, Dude, who we lost to osteo in 2011. Here's his Pirate hat - complete with parrot!

I don't have pics of the other BowWowBonnets we have loaded in the Bucket, but we have a tiara, a baseball hat, a fedora, a straw summer hat, and other pirate bandanas. Donna was always so clever and could take an idea and make it really come to life!

Yes, Rick is her son. She had congestive heart failure for a few years. When she stopped making hats she told me she wanted to make one last one for Lexie since Lexie visit hospice patients. It was a purple hat to match the colors of the hospice organization. I felt so blessed. She was a heart warming person. She will be missed dearly.

Oh no....I haven't been on Facebook much so I didn't see the posting. Donna always made a point to post on my threads about our dogs. She will be greatly missed.

Made me misty -- win and rivie won a costume contest in their bow wow bonnets ;). Donna put lots of love in each of her creations and seemed genuinely pleased when you contacted her to let her know how you loved her handiwork -- I know my bridge babies were there waiting to give Donna a big roo

Donna was such a lovely and kind person, I am so sorry to hear this. She made a couple of hats for me to use as donations and they were both just gorgeous. Not sure if I still have photos, I'll look.

She had a great eye for design and made sure every detail was just right.

May her beautiful spirit rest in peace. :f_white
