BatterseaBrindl
My 22 year old fellow is showing his age... the Vet thinks his kidneys are starting to fail. Can anybody give an opinion on these ? Sorry they are so small.... Edited October 20, 2015 by BatterseaBrindl Quote Nancy...Mom to Sid (Peteles Tiger), Kibo (112 Carlota Galgos) and Joshi. tbhounds
I did see that he has blood, bacteria and struvites in his urine. Did the dr feel antibiotics should be dispensed??
BatterseaBrindl
No. Thought about it. Consulted with his partner and decided against them. He is drinking quite a lot. Chomping his salt block. He is also urinating a lot....a lot... and randomly. In the aisle. Drips urine sometimes.....On the poor blacksmith. I have noticed some minor wobbles in his hind end but I have also seen him trotting an cantering (slowly) in his 10 acre pasture with no difficulties. 'Old age wobblers' ? tbhounds
A lot of these guys end up with cushings disease. How's the haircoat? Shedding normally?
BatterseaBrindl
Yes, he did shed out normally. And his winter coat is coming in normally. I am familiar with Cushings....seen a couple of cases. My Vet told me the test results which Imacribbled down quickly and gave me his opinions, but I only picked up the paper copies the other day and I just didn't know how to decider all those 'short forms/initials' on them and wondered if anybody here could tell me what they were ie NEU and LYM And UREA CREA CA K He is eating just fine...teeth were just done the same day as the blood work. Other than the random incontinence /frequent peeing and some subtle hind-end wobbles/weakness, he is doing OK.... being his usual pushy old self. One week at a time..... tbhounds
The Neu is neutrophil (white cell)--the Lym is Lymphocyte (white cell). Urea =bun and Crea -=creatinine. Ca =calcium and K =potassium. Is that what you were asking for??
BatterseaBrindl
Yes... Thanks so much and your idea about Cushings is most certainly food for thought....
