macoduck
An adopter needs to get a first of the day pee sample and a poop sample to the vet. They could catch it in the morning but may not be able to get it to the vet until after 4pm. When I've caught the pee sample I just put it in the fridge and was able to get it to the vet by 2pm. Same with the poop sample. Are either time-critical for testing? tbhounds
Depends on what the vet is looking for. I assume because the vet wants a first a.m. urine sample they are just checking the urine specific gravity. So long as the urine is in a tightly sealed container it should be ok to wait a few hours before submission. Ideally, when running a full u/a it should be run ASAP-of course that's not always possible so many clients are told to refrigerate and drop off ASAP the same day. A proper u/a shouldn't be run on older urine--crystals will form and other changes will occur. Fecals are best to run ASAP too but, if sealed tightly refrigeration is fine. Never should a fecal be run on stool collected from the yard when it's unknown how old it is nor from a frozen sample. Fresh is best--right out of the factory. macoduck
Waiting details from owner. Has had some potty accidents, pee and poop. Normally he's not a stressed dog. I need to find out if he's being over exercised in the heat and what food they have him on now.
