"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." -- Unknown

Short video of Stretch getting his chew on, then hiccups!

In our first week he has been massively food motivated and relatively easy to train. He (reasonably well) knows Sit, Leave it, Chin (puts the weight of his head in your hand), Kennel, Outside, Be quick (potty), Ah-ah (interrupter, like 'No'), Lay. He also walks on leash right at our heels. All this thanks to the Kikopup vids on YouTube and the constant training rotating across my entire family of four. At some point I'll try to put a compilation together of the tricks.

He is a bit of a chainsaw. Super, super sharp teeth and wants to bite everything. Takes a lot of interrupting and calming down techniques and is a constant battle but improving. Potty training is improving but accidents are frequent unless we are vigilant and right by him. Sleeps 3 hours at a time at night consistently with crate door open, but it's about time to close the crate because we are starting to sleep through when he gets up and he's had an accident or two before we took him outside.

Forgot how much vigilance and control a puppy requires, especially now since we are trying to use only positive reinforcement and completely avoid separation anxiety and isolation whining and barking. Again, can't say enough about the Kikopup vids and all the help on the internet.
