Magdalene Posted March 8, 2015 Share Posted March 8, 2015 So yesterday, I was taking Dazzle and Mystique to a meet and greet, and Dazzle barreled down the stairs because she *loves* going out to meet her adoring public. She got out of the car, limping. She had picked up a rock in her paw, so I fished it out, and I didn't see anything else, but she continued to limp. I thought she might be 'playing it up' for sympathy and attention (she's been known to do that when she knows she has an audience.) But it became obvious that she was actually more hurt, so I took her home and gave her some pain meds and had her rest, figuring the way she crashed around, she'd likely pulled a muscle. This morning, no better, so off to the vet, where they did an x-ray....and it's bone cancer. We discussed treatment options, where the first step would be amputation....which for Dazzle, would be a living hell. Plus, the simple truth is, she's eleven years old, and even without cancer, she likely didn't have much more time left as was. So we're going for pain management, until she's ready, then I'll call a vet who makes house calls so she can be let go at home, which is what she'd want.
