GreyhoundGirl
So Molly's on chicken and rice for the next few days. All I have in the house is brown rice. Can I give her brown rice or is that going to be a problem? TIA GreyhoundGirl
RedHead
You can, it is sometimes just harder to digest. Cook it with a lot of extra water, and for a really long time. Then mash it up a bit before feeding. You can also sub in pasta instead of rice if you have it.
GreyhoundGirl
I have pasta to spare. Any special kind?
RedHead
Not really...just add a little extra water and overcook it a bit. I boil the chicken in with it so that it makes a broth and flavours it a little more.

EllenEveBaz
Just adding a second to the harder to digest. I fed a dog brown rice once as part of what was supposed to be a bland diet meal. I didn't know about the having to cook it till it was mushy. It looked exactly the same when it came out of her as when it went in.
