If that doesn't work for you, post back here. I'll try to find some Winston Salem greyhound folks for you.

Thanks! I already posted there since that is where we got her! We can keep driving to the greensboro lawndale vet if need be, just wanted to see if there was anything closer.

Hopefully Ducky's contacts can steer you to vets with a lot of greyhound experience but over the years and many many dogs passing through on their way home I honestly have found "grey savvy" to be overused and overrated. Fifteen years ago I was asking a vet all kinds of questions on greyhound surgery and he politely told me that any vet unaware of greyhound protocol had been under a rock for ten years.

Ducky had a handy free card you can give to any vet. Suzanne Stack's site http://www.greythealth.com/ is a font of useful information. Dr. Freeman also has one. You can educate yourself and then educate your vet if they are willing. One of my former vets went from unfamiliar with greys to being one of the vets recommended by the largest GH group here....because he wanted to learn and I wanted to share.

My friends have suggested Animal Ark in Clemmons and Hillsdale Animal Hospital in Advance.

You should have gotten one of my Greyhounds Are Different medical reference cards when you got your adoption handbook at the kennel. :)

Thanks! We have just been using the vets in greensboro since we are there frequently visiting family. But it seems she has developed an eye infection over the weekend and i wanted to see if there was anywhere closer i could bring her in tomorrow.

I agree with Hubcitypam.

There is NOTHING special about most routine veterinary needs for Greyhounds. The only thing you need to be aware of is that their lab values will be different, and they are prone to bleeding during surgery, and they are sensitive to anesthesia. Cuts and scraps and UTIs and eye goobers--a dog is a dog.
