CharlieRhea
Today (Sunday) is Charlies 3rd gotcha day and I am so happy to celebrate it as I didn't know a month and a half ago if he would be here. We grilled steak on the bbq even though it is unusually cold and windy still. They loved it, he and Rhea. just wanted to share that with you. CharlieRhea
Thanks Greytpups! I almost posted last night because I was on alert mode yet again! In the afternoon Charlie was lethargic. Not like him at all. When my husband came home he usually picks up a toy and runs around but he just lay there on the couch. Also I noticed the area on his chest which had the tube in it was moist with fluid/blood. All the other suture areas are closed and healed well. I immediately called Tufts Grafton and the surgeon who did the laparoscopy was there and kindly called me back. He told me not to worry but if he didn't eat perhaps I should take him to the e vet. Charlie did eat and is back to himself although he has taken another decade off my life :-) I will take him to the cardiologist ASAP waiting for a call this morning. Dr McCarthy said that is what needs to be looked at now and that the effusion should not happen again. I'm so very tired. At least Charlie is fine now and no emergency visit. I was hoping to wait until April for this apt but looks like I need it sooner. It is frustrating because they did hear an irregular heartbeat initially but don't know why and they said it has nothing to do with the pericardial effusion. Seems like it would to me as he had been in cardiac tamponade but then I am no vet. UGH I just want this figured out. ps I think I am just on high alert at this point when he is off Edited March 26, 2015 by CharlieRhea
