Who Is Your Go-To Collar Designer?

Recommended Posts

Guest Shermanator

Whee! We are looking to readopt soon, and its been a long time since I have bought collars! They wear tag collars at all times, so they must be soft. And I need new martingales for a girl and (hopefully) a boy.

Thanks! Kelly and Travel and maybe Luther soon!

Lisa of Dog o'Nine Tails!

Of course, she's 'local' to me, being a UK collar maker, and I've met her several times at shows. She's super nice and helpful, and she makes gorgeous collars. She'll track down fabric for you if she doesn't have it, too.

She also does amazing and beautiful soft fabric bags with greyhounds on them. She did me one with a tripod fawn like my Sid. :thumbs-up

I love Classic Hound and Wetherby Martingale Co.

I've never bought one of these collars, but Dutch and Co has some fun, unique fabrics.

I love Unfrogettable Designs http://www.unfrogettable.com/collars/collarframe.html She does beautiful work, and has reasonable prices. Her collars are well made, with lots of attention to detail. She sews with coordinating thread, and her stitches are STRAIGHT, lol. Sometimes, that can be an issue, lol. She also lines her collars, if you choose to have one, and uses fabrics like satin (my favourite) and fleece. There are also a variety of control loops that you can choose, too. She also has an Etsy shop with ready-made collars: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/UnfrogettableDesigns?ref=ss_profile

Thanks for the mention! All 2 Hounds collars are completely lined in satin, which is great on the neck and helps prevent rubbing and chaffing sores.

Wetherby's and Unfrogettable Designs. Both do really great, quality work and the prices are more than fair.

I buy from Long Dog Leather. I make my own fabric collars now, but I used to buy (and would still buy) from needlenoseapparel.com. I'd also start buying from Collar Town. I love her stuff.

Here are two that I don't think have been mentioned yet:

Crown Collars http://www.crowncollars.com/shop/index.php and Collar Addict http://www.collaraddict.com/specialty-collars/

Both also have Facebook pages. Crown Collars has a lot of collars on sale right now at great prices. Ingrid's quality is excellent and all of her collars have satin lining if that's important to you like it is to me. I haven't ordered from Collar Addict yet, but I love their combinations of ribbons and leather and decorative leather. She makes martingales as well as collars for non-sighthounds.

I also have collars I love from 2 Hounds Design http://www.2houndsdesign.com/ and Nancy B http://nancybscollars.smugmug.com/.

I don't have one go-to place! :D I think I have bought collars from several different places and have always been pleased. I have purchased both collars and a harness from 2Hounds as well as collars from a few different people on Etsy.

IMO, the best place to buy Martingales is from Crown Collars (crowncollars.com). The collars are very well made. The selection is awesome. I have never been disappointed when buying from Ingrid.

Both Nancy and Maggie are a joy to work with, the collars are beautiful and well-made, as well as affordable! At one point I had 6 dogs - keeping them well-dressed is difficult on a budget and Nancy and Maggie made it easier for me to be a good mom :)

My 2 fabric collar choices are Collar Town and Crown Collars. I love Maggie's fun fabrics and Ingrid has the best jeweled collars around!

If you're thinking of going leather the. Definitely Long Dog Leather is the place to go. I love my martingales from them!
