Guest loki1
My 21 month old gulps his water and food. I feed him a raw meat diet (chicken necks, ox tail, offal, wings etc) and he will often swallow them whole. How can I stop this. I make him wait for his food but this has not helped. He hasn't choked but I'm worried about bloat and choking. He drinks his water so fast it makes him vomit. I put it up on a step but he refuses to drink from it unless the bowl is on the floor. Brandiandwe
I slowed my guys' eating down by putting some metal choke chains in their bowls. You can also get bowls which are designed to slow things down. You could also put tennis balls or something in the water bowl.
Guest klipper
We got this bowl: http://www.amazon.com/OurPets-Premium-DuraPet-Slow-Medium/dp/B001NJ4PVW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1408977211&sr=8-3&keywords=slow+feed+dog+bowl and it has slowed down our grey significantly during mealtimes. Sambuca
You can spread the food in a muffin tin or put a kong in the dish to slow him down. I would use small pieces until he slows down a bit. If you want to do turkey necks, I've heard of people holding onto one end while the dog chews it so that they can't swallow it whole. Adding ice to his water should slow him down a bit.
