Laur Posted July 4, 2014 Share Posted July 4, 2014 Today I had to say good bye to my dearest brave boy Jacob. Age 13 years 11 months. He was my first of three greyhounds, and the last. I have lost 4 elderly dogs over the past 4 years. Jakie was my heartdog...quiet , silly, stoic. I am dogless for the first time in 25 years. This is surreal. The hardest was taking the throw sheet from off the double bed where he slept...the sheet had indentations from where he last stood, foot prints. My special needs daughter and I stared at it for a long while...then she remarked , 'I almost wish there was poop there...because right now it would have sentimental value ' Jakie was a special needs adoption...born with a pelvic bladder and needed reconstructive surgery...only a 30 percent chance of survival.
