Samwise
So Sam has learnt that the couch is okay to climb on, which is good! We're not sure how to teach him a command to get off the couch...which is bad. We definitely don't want to physically haul him off the couch, but he won't even be lured off by a treat. We've started saying "off" when he hops off the couch of his own accord, but is there anything else we can do? Sambuca
Use better treats!! Cheese, chicken, beef, hot dogs. Throw it, when he's getting off the couch, say "off" or whatever command works for you.
Samwise
It's crumbly duck treats! He usually goes right for them. I'll try something smellier...mmm Quote Sam, formerly known as Macabres Mandate Featuring his humans Alexandra & Paul

Brandiandwe
Or, if all else fails, put the collar and leash on, tell him 'Off' and get him off that way. They usually move with the leash. Once he's off, awesomely smelly treats. Or surrender to the inevitable and sit on the floor.

greysmom
If he's not responding to a particular treat, you need to find a different one - smellier, tastier - such as cheese cubes, liverwurst, lunchmeat, broasted chicken, liver bites. If he still doesn't respond, clap your hands, say the cue - he should move. If he still doesn't move, clip on a short leash, move him off, treat, treat, treat, unclip him when he's on his bed. Samwise
We went with the leash & treat. Going to have to find some serious smelly stuff, though. We're also backtracking (a little) and making him wait for a command before getting on the couch to reaffrim that the couch is people space and we graciously permit his booty to hang out on it. He's only been really getting on the couch for a week or so, so he's not totally used to it yet. We're also starting clicker training to try to be consistent with his other good behaviours. This hound is crazy smart (figured out "wait" in <24 hours), I'm sure we'll find something that works. Thank you all!!!
