Guest Fiona
Anxiety separation is a serious issue and seems to affect greys as much if not more so than other dogs. If you were a rescue dog taken out of everything you knew and were then given to someone who cares for you; if they dissappeared for a time you would be very distressed. Look out for articles that explain how to treat anxiety separation and be prepared to put in the work to address the problem. It generally involves leaving your dog for a very short time, 30 seconds or so - into a different room behind a closed door, coming back in and not even appearing to notice your dog. They have to adjust to your going and coming back as if it were nothing. Don't make a fuss when you go out, lots of love and stokes only convinces them that there is something going to happen, In and out without a comment or look. Build up on the time and gradually it will improve. Have faith it will work, there is plenty of good advice out there.
