Acadianarose
I order my dogs' food and have it delivered. It was supposed to be here already but was delayed and won't be here until Wednesday evening. I will have enough for tomorrow but I think that's it. I can't find their regular food locally. Does anyone know what I can feed them for a couple of meals that won't upset their stomachs? Houndtime
Eggs, yogurt, canned chicken, tuna, sardines, oatmeal, a hamburger; there are probably more. I have cooked potatoes and vegetables for my dogs, too. Guest Doggone
Would your vet possibly have an adequate substitute, or be able to suggest one that is sold in your local stores?
Time4ANap
Unless they need some type of special diet for sensitive tummies, you can probably get away with adding some canned to make it stretch until Wednesday, or using add-ins like scrambled eggs, a little cottage cheese and other items noted in the above post. Since it's only a day, i wouldn't stress over it too much. In a pinch, just mixing with a similar type of kibble off the shelf would probably be fine also. We order our food also because the closest place that carries it is a 180 mile round trip. I've gotten in the habit of ordering the new bag as soon as I open the bag that goes into the storage container. That way, if it's backordered for a bit, i have a couple weeks of lead time to deal with it. In a pinch, we've used the IAMs Green Bag with no problems. Quote Camp Broodie. juliemac
you can also consider rice & beef (I like to cook them together in a bit more water than the rice would require on its own ... I don't drain the mixture when I serve it)
Acadianarose
Thanks for the help everyone. I need to start keeping a full bag on hand. For the first time it was out of stock. I have the kibble that I use for treats. Definitely not my idea of healthy dog food, but maybe I could mix it with the food that left and it wouldn't cause any issue. *fingers crossed*. Or I could just get a couple of hamburger patties. I think that would be their vote. you can also consider rice & beef (I like to cook them together in a bit more water than the rice would require on its own ... I don't drain the mixture when I serve it) Great idea! I have this at home too! Brandiandwe
This has happened to me a couple of times. I don't panic and the dogs get all of the above, as well as chicken and rice (thankfully I have a rice cooker), mackerel, eggs, some raw food........
