GreyhoundGirl
If I change the flavor but not the brand do I need to do it slowly it can I just change it? TIA!!
Guest Clawsandpaws
If it's a change in flavor, then the ingredients are different, so if your hound is prone to tummy problems, I would switch as if it was completely different.
krissn333
I switched one of mine from TOTW Pacific Stream to TOTW High Prairie without mixing. He wouldn't eat the Pacific Stream all of a sudden. No tummy trouble. Really depends on the dog. If your dog has a sensitive tummy, I'd switch slowly. However, if the "flavor" your dog is on NOW is already causing diarrhea or upset stomach, I'd just make a complete switch, no slow switching. Batmom
You never need to do it slowly. You might want to check the ingredients in the other flavors against the ingredients of the food you're feeding now. In some brands/lines, different flavors are very similar. In others, there may be big differences in ingredients, protein/fat percentage, etc. Quote Star aka Starz Ovation (Ronco x Oneco Maggie*, litter #48538), Coco aka Low Key (Kiowa Mon Manny x Party Hardy, litter # 59881), and mom in IllinoisWe miss Reko Batman (Trouper Zeke x Marque Louisiana), 11/15/95-6/29/06, Rocco the thistledown whippet, 04/29/93-10/14/08, Reko Zema (Mo Kick x Reko Princess), 8/16/98-4/18/10, the most beautiful girl in the whole USA, my good egg Joseph aka Won by a Nose (Oneco Cufflink x Buy Back), 09/22/2003-03/01/2013, and our gentle sweet Gidget (Digitizer, Dodgem by Design x Sobe Mulberry), 1/29/2006-11/22/2014, gone much too soon. Hubcitypam
I used to switch back and forth from Iams chicken and lamb with my colitis dog Rex. No problems except he wasn't as crazy about the lamb.
