Batmom
Two useful sites for evidence- and/or science-based information about herbs and supplements: Sloan-Kettering has reference material about many though not all herbal and other supplements. Reasonably though not completely up-to-the-minute, straightforward, and well-referenced. The section you want (under each item) is "Clinical Summary." http://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/integrative-medicine/about-herbs-botanicals-other-products . This article discusses several commonly used pet supplements and describes the evidence for whether they work or not. This site generally has quite up-to-date information; if an article is older, it'll usually link to any newer information that is available. http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-top-ten-pet-supplements-do-they-work/ Note about terminology: When the articles in the links refer to in vitro, that refers to tests on cells in a test tube or petri dish. Tests on people, dogs, rats, cats, etc. may or may not show the same results as those suggested by test tube experiments. KF_in_Georgia
Thanks for the links. I've bookmarked both. My guys get Missing Link Hip and Joint. My girl's arthritis is less painful these days, but that's probably more because she has lost the extra pounds she picked up finishing Sam's meals for him. Foster boy is young and healthy as a horse, and I haven't seen any improvement in anything in the seven weeks he's been here taking Missing Link. I'm unlikely to reorder when this bag is gone. Quote Kathy and Q (CRT Qadeer from Fuzzy's Cannon and CRT Bonnie) and Jane (WW's Aunt Jane from Trent Lee and Aunt M); photos to come.
