Guest mmreca Posted September 26, 2013 Share Posted September 26, 2013 My husband and I just adopted our first dog and first greyhound from the racetrack in IA. We have had Niles almost 3 weeks. He is my joy! I cannot even remember what my life was like before this big, loving, silly dog was a part of it. We are all still adjusting, but every day seems to be a little better. Niles is starting to play with his toys and chew his rawhides. We have 4 cats, and when we are home, he has adjusted so well that we let him out of his crate to sleep on his fancy pillow while we are relaxing in the living room. It is really helpful to expose your new hound to people and other dogs. Get him used to the big, new world around him. Ernie (racing name NMS Flying Loose) lives in Snowy Boston and spent his racing days at a track in Sarasota, FL. We adopted him in August from a Mendon, MA greyhound adoption group. I followed Flame's racing career because I wanted to see if she'd keep on racing or be up for adoption. So glad she's now living the retired life!!!
