"Vascular events" scare the bejeebies out of me. Desi had 2 back in Feb/March, the last one the worst, he was dragging right rear leg like a stick of wood.

When he was released from hosp, I was told he may or may not gain some use of that leg. I was very very very close to letting him go then, because there was no

way I could haul his 85 lb behind around, and his other 3 legs are full of arthritis & owies as well. To make a long story short, we hung in.......in a few days he was

toe touching, in a couple of weeks, he was walking (albeit with a horrendous limp), and now 6 months later, he's walking fine....well, not fine, but back to just his

normal gimpiness.

What I guess I''m trying to say is that where there's a will, there's a way, and it seems to me that Fionn has plenty of will. I will be cautiously optimistic that in time,

he will improve. Hugs & prayers for all.

Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog.

DSC_0513.jpgFionn now has the run of the dinningroom and kitchen area. He followed me around the area like a little puppy. I have started to get concerned because he hadn't pooped yet but believe me he is eating. I kept thinking that what goes in must come out eventually. I took him out at 5:30am but he just stood there and looked around. He did manage to get himself down the stairs which is an improvement from yesterday. He also does not toe under when he is walking on the floors in the house. He so reminds me of the commercial where the camel walks around saying "what day is it?" That's the way Fionn is walking - very delibert. As part of his PT I delibertly push him off balance so that his opposite muscles compensate and put him back into alignment. Well, after breakfast, Mac and Chase wanted to go out and Fionn, now having the run of the kitchen and dinning room "trotts" right behind them to the door. So I get Chase's ramp that he never used, dusted off the cobwebbs and set it up off the back deck. We made it down the ramp - wasn't pretty but we made it. Fionn went down that one step from the cement pad to the pool area and started exploring. Thank god the pool cover is on...... Next thing I knew he found just the right bush and pee'd, pee'd,peed' and then Marked' marked'marked, Then he pooped, no once, not twice not three times but four times. My stomach felt better after watching him :) happy" Now all the time Fionn is in the back yard I am on the phone with Jim. What happened next is just unbelievable - Fionn first trotted a couple of steps and then he ran. Granted not far but he ran and then he walked up that steep hill to me. Getting him back up the ramp is an adventure but it's doable. Right now he's taking a well deserved nap. Jim's coming over later after his meeting and we'll be taking him out back again. I've got to figure out how to do videos on my camera because from where this dog was to where he is this morning is unbelievable. I know he's got a long haul ahead of him but he's happy and comfortable with the way his quirky body is
