Guest Phaedra3 Posted September 12, 2013 Share Posted September 12, 2013 Had to put my Phaedra down last night, she was battleing kidney disease and degenerative myelopathy. Phaedra turned 12 in June 3013 and was diagnosed with kidney diesease one year ago but we managed to keep that under control with the proper diet and medication. The myelopathy began began approximatley 1 1/2 years ago and progressively got worse. She had a real good day yesterday but within minutes she lost total use of her hind legs, it was so very devestating. Doctor thought she may have thru a clot. We made the decision to let her go the bridge to be with her brother who passed away from cancer three years ago. We have had several set backs throughout the year with Phaedra and managed with nursing care to always pull her through but this time was different. Her body just gave out. House is so quiet without her this morning, a family member missing. My heart aches and I wonder how I will get through this. As I have been through this before I know time heals but there will always be that piece of my heart that was for Phaeara will never heal.
