Violet - Rhabdomyolysis, Update: Vet Recheck (#183)

Recommended Posts

It does sound like your in good hands. Isn't google wonderful for finding helpful information.

It sure is. And I really appreciate you passing that along. Other than some generic articles, that's the only one I happened to find before the vet showed up with results. I'll probably spend some time researching in the morning as well, but honestly at this point I think I just have to wait and see how she does overnight. I'm just praying I don't get a phone call, no news is definitely good news in this case.

And so much for being tired. Adrenaline is an amazing thing. Need to shut down and force myself to try to sleep.

I'm relieved to read your update, and to know Violet is in capable hands. Sending good thoughts your way.

Missing my sweet girl Scout. My snuggler, my chow-hound, my kissy girl.
It never thunders at the Bridge, and your food bowl is ALWAYS filled.

So strange not living in Atty World. I was a love struck handmaiden to your every whim.

Jeez, what a terrifying day you've had :(. I'm so glad you have a diagnosis and she's in good hands.

It's been an adrenaline filled roller coaster for sure. I went from being convinced that my dog was going to die in front of me on the trail while I stood by totally helpless, to feeling reassured that we were most likely dealing with a freaking stone (&^*$^%#$!!!!), to being totally panicked once again. Most of the time I don't really believe this is happening. I just need to know that we will get through this, even if it's a rocky road. I cannot lose my girl. :cry1

Did she start acting painful? Or did they just start the fentanyl as a precaution? Just wondering since all your previous posts indicated that she was acting completely normal. I'm glad she's getting treated aggressively, and especially if she's been acting pretty normal, she should be fine. I've had a couple cases where I suspected mild rhabdomyolysis, but the owners declined IV fluids/hospitalization due to finances (dogs were acting completely normal), and they cleared up on their own with no problems.

They did feel that her muscles were painful, although it didn't sound like to the level that would warrant that strong of a pain med, so I think it was partially because they were expecting it to get worse. It's one thing I'll discuss with them if her urine is improving. I don't know what else they could/should use? Don't think an NSAID is a good idea, Tramadol?

No phone calls overnight so that's good! :clap

I have to wait until after 10 to call and see about going in to see her.

I understand that horrible panicky helpless feeling so well, as you know, Jen. I wish I could be there for you now the way you were for me last year. Know that you and your beautiful little Faitholet are on my mind. :bighug
