calif_chaz
Phoebe started getting me up earlier than normal for a few days to go out. On the third day of this I did a random catch for a urinalysis. Later that same morning she vomited up a very big glob of the grass she's been eating much more of the last few days, followed by a puddle of yellowish bile. The urinalysis was ok but they sent it to the lab and her bilirubin was 2+ and the lab noted the color of the urine as orange. ( I also had noted how dark it was). No food rest of the day (forgot to say the morning she vomited she did not have any interest in her breakfast which is extremely unusual). Last night I gave her a small amount of hamb and rice which she had no trouble with and slept all night last night. Ate the same thing for a small breakfast and when I walked her she had a very small b.m. but it was diarrhea. So my question is how concerned should I be with the elevated bilirubin? Do I do a wait and see for a few weeks before another test (unless of course she has more or continuing problems)? Oops, posted in wrong forum!! Can anyone move this to health?? would appreciate that.
Batmom
I would want to get bloodwork (CBC and chemistry) and a repeat urinalysis. Hope all will be well! Guest lanielovesgreys
My cat's billirubin was high when her liver was failing. It was due to her diet, which was really quickly changed. But she was very sick for about 12 days after that and we worked so hard to get her levels correct. Her levels were so out of whack that she lost her appetite, too, and we had to force feed her. Not eating would just compound the problem. Is Phoebe looking jaundiced (yellow) at all? What does your vet say?
calif_chaz
She had her blood work done in April and all was fine. She is now eating like a champ and not getting up in the early morning. Her poo was still goo this morning but she is feeling so much better. At this point it is a "wait and see" thing~~see if the poop settle back to normal. all else has returned to normal. I am just wondering if she got hold of something bad and ate it! She doesn't get people food (except for scrambled eggs), yards are never chemicals applied, and she is only walked with us DH and myself. No jaundice at all. The whole thing is just weird and I am really hoping she continues to be fine and we will do another urinalysis in a couple of weeks.
