It is osteo... even though we "knew" it, we're devasted.... Say a prayer for him at 2:40pm today when he will cross the bridge.... in the meantime he is being showered with steak, ice cream, bananas and visits from his special friends.....

Update 6.22.13

 

We had xrays taken this morning and there is a spot that is very concerning, you know that moth eaten look :( The actual lump looks like new bone growth but that doesn't make sense to me. They took a few more xrays of the leg and sent to the radiologist STAT. They'll be calling us as soon as they hear back, at some point today. Dr. does suspect osteo but wants more confirmation.

 

Adam is not a candidate for amp due to his back end issues, which amazingly is not LS. They took xrays of that too, as well as his chest, which look like "old man lungs". No obvious masses there, which I guess is good.

 

If osteo is confirmed by the new xrays, we will be saying good bye to Adam Sunshine today. My heart is being torn out

I noticed this lump on Adam's hock yesterday (picture is from today). The area is a half inch larger than the left leg. He isn't limping per se, but favoring and he isn't quite himself. Yes, we are going to the vet but I was hoping that someone could offer another reason than "C" that would cause this. He hasn't been doing zoomies, his back end has gotten progressively weaker these past few months. I don't think he banged it.

 

He'll be 13 in a month.

 

Trying not to worry... but we all know that I am.

You can see a bump like that from the dog whacking it on something. But I would want an x-ray sooner rather than later.

Good thoughts for Adam. Not really sure what could cause it but like you am worried. Is it soft or hard? If soft, I was thinking maybe a bee sting or something.

He is the same today. The lump is hard, very hard and hasn't changed much since I noticed it on Tuesday. Still a half inch larger than the other leg.

 

Xrays will be done either tomorrow or Saturday morning, depending on when they can get us in. He'll have to mildly sedated, sine he isn't a fan of being man handled like that. They'll probably do his back end too, to compare to last time. My poor buddy!
