Poop....no Poop....poop Poop Poop!

Recommended Posts

Reggie's got this pattern of, for a number of days he'll have one normal size and normal consistency pooh. Then production will start to drop off. The poops get smaller and he may even miss a day (or 2!) altogether. Then the next day he'll create a "pooh for the ages", usually in my kitchen. <_< The latest one, done in about three minutes or less was three normal size piles in a row on the kitchen tile. When you combine three normal size piles into one BM, there's really nothing else to say except for HOLY S**T!!!

My question is, what can I feed this boy to keep him regular? His doodies are neither too firm nor too soft. They just seem to 'STOP' about once a week or so. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Perhaps sprinkle a little Metamusil in his food?

Have you talked to your vet about this? Always better to rule out a physical problem first. Getting a sample might be challenging . . . or maybe not :flip

Sounds like that boy needs some more fiber and maybe a probiotic or yogurt! What are you feeding him?

I was wondering if Activia would work on him the same way it's supposed to work on people. I just can tell he gets a bit uncomfortable when he misses a day. He eats Chicken Soup For the Dog Lovers Soul. All four eat it and do well on it. He just poops less often than the others.

Probably. Check the ingredients on a FortiFlora box vs an Activia yogurt to see what active bacteria are listed. You can also add a TBLSP of metamucil or beet pulp for extra fiber.

All of the Missing Link formulas contain lots of fiber, in fact the directions say to start with a small dose and work up to the recommended dose. My girl who tends to produce what I call "pencil poops" and has had anal gland issues is doing wonderfully on the Missing Link formulas. Lots of good Omegas, too!
