kickchick2000 Posted April 22, 2013 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I will be saying goodbye to my best friend of over 10 years today at 2pm. Milky Way has struggled with hind end weakness for sometime now and then back in March he was diagnosed with LP. In the past 2 months he's had a few bad days but mostly good days. He's been on rimadyl for about a year and last month we added gabapentin which really made a difference. For awhile he was almost back to new. However Friday night he struggled to stand to eat his food. Saturday he was fine in the morning but fell Saturday night. Sunday I had to stand next to him and support him while he ate because he was so wobbly and was sinking. Sunday night after dinner he started to panic because he could not stand well, LP and panic don't mix so I knew we had to calm him immediately. We were able to calm him but I cannot let him suffer and he won't have another night like last night. I slept next to him on the floor to watch over him last night This morning he stood for his food went potty just fine but came in and just collapsed on his bed. I went over to talk to him and both DH and I agreed it's time. For several weeks I've heard everyone say you will just know and I was beside myself because he was still wanting to live and I never saw anything but this morning I finally know what everyone means.
