Clear Urine

I've been noticing that when Ross pees lately his urine is clear. He hasn't been drinking any more lately so I don't think he over-hydrates himself. His diet hasn't changed.

Any ideas of why his urine would be clear and what I should do about it?

Cooler weather so he's panting less (and thus losing less water thru the day)?

It wouldn't hurt to take a first-of-the-morning midstream sample to your vet and have them do a basic urinalysis (including specific gravity). That can catch early-onset kidney problems, etc. Chances are, though, it's just weather change, he felt like drinking a little more (but not so you'd notice), etc.

I've never been one to pay attention to my dogs urine before but I do have to ask. Is their urine supposed to be yellow? I always think yellow means dehydrated.

It's my understanding that a greys urine is darker and more concentrated than other dogs.

Nope--greyhound urine is no different than other breeds

I am going to have to figure out why I thought that..
