Zonisamide Question

My foster is on zonisamide and gets 3 pills twice a day at 6:30 am and 6:30pm.

I had to work tonight so brought him (and Passion) to work along with their pills.

At 6:30, got ready to pill him and realized I forgot one of the pills.

I work until midnight, should I give him the pill when I get home or just skip it entirely? I can't believe that I did this.

My first instinct would be to skip the third pill. But check the paperwork on the meds. It may say what to do if you miss a dose.

ETA: Unhelpful site for Zonisamide for people:

What should I do if I forget a dose?

Talk to your doctor about what to do if you miss a dose of zonisamide. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

But the last part may be relevant: If you give him a pill at 12:30, then need to give pills at 6:30, you'll being giving him an excess amount then.

I think if you had given the pill it would have been ok -- Rainey's neuro had us giving an entire dose (of all her pills) when she had a seizure and since she got the regular dose with food, and all of her seizures occured during or immediately after eating, she frequently got 2 complete doses less than 10 minutes apart. Several times in the beginning she started seizing FROM eating the pills (before we started feeding when pilling, we used to just feed Nube at 5:30am and bring her pills up and pill her on the bed). After 3 or 4 times we just ended up feeding her too (because she was so hungry all the time).
