Another New One!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I wanted to take the time to introduce myself, we recently adopted our first greyhound through Shamrock Greyhound Placement in Louisville, KY. I started off volunteering with them and had decided to try out fostering since we already have two "rescue" dogs that we have had for a few years. I have become an addict to this forum and have been "stalking" it for some time. I love all the stories and information shared!

Our house is pretty small so we weren't sure how adding another large dog to the mix would do, but it wasn't too bad! Anyway, I loved out first foster so much and was heartbroken when she went to her forever home that I didn't think I could do it again. My husband convinced me and we soon got our GiGi......big mistake on his part! She is now the newest member of our family and I cannot be happy to say that I am was a "foster failure!"

We are still going to foster and see how things go, but I am super happy to have my girl. She is the sweetest thing and luckily never had to race. Her name was Good Girl and she came from West Virginia. When I get time to set up the stuff to add pictures I'll have to put some up of her.

Thanks for letting me share!

Welcome to GT! I'd love to see pics when you have time to share, although every grey on here is cute and funny and lovable and adorable and...well you get the idea. :lol

Awww. Those are such sweet photos! Looks like she is taking retirement seriously. And amazing how well the cat seems to have adjusted! Ours won't go near the dog bed.

I love working with Shamrock! We are going to continue fostering for them and I volunteer with them for events and meet and greets. They are good group of people. They are hosting the bluegrass festival next weekend. You should check it out. There is info on their website. http://www.greyhoundsofshamrock.org/

I was totally wanting to go to that but of course my National Guard drill duty falls on the same weekend. This is the 3rd time I was wanting to go to a greyhound function and the National Guard had different plans for me.

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." -- Unknown
